POSITION: Travel Assistant
WORK HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours/week
ANNUAL SALARY:Ordinarily Resident (OR): FSN-7; US$9,628(Starting Salary)
The U.S. Mission in Hanoi, Vietnam is seeking eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Travel Assistant in its General Services Office (GSO).
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Incumbent of this position will report directly to the Supervisory Travel Assistant to form the Visits Office (VO). The incumbent will coordinate with embassy Control Officers and DC counterparts to identify and execute the logistical phases of each visit. His/she responsibilities include, visa approval paperwork, airport expediting, requests for purchases, motor pool requests, hotel reservations, cost estimates, Control Room staffing, and other duties as assigned. He/she will develop relationships with hotels for special services, including, but not limited to, room requests, late check-outs or early check-ins, meeting spaces for high-level visits, or receptions. He/she will assist the control officer to staff VIP control rooms or hospitality rooms as needed and assist the Customs and Shipping section with expeditor support at the airport.

1. EDUCATION: College or university studies is required.
2. EXPERIENCE: Two years of work experience in the travel or hospitality field is required.
3. LANGUAGE: Level 3 (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required (this will be tested). Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing Vietnamese is required.
4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be customer-service oriented and be able to deal tactfully and effectively in English and Vietnamese with a variety of local and overseas vendors and U.S. citizen clients. Must have exceptional interpersonal skills. Must have basic Microsoft Office skills and intermediate Internet searching capabilities.
5. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have excellent understanding of local travel market, including airlines, hotels, and local tour companies.
