Coordinator for National Hepatitis Survey, Vietnam

Title: GHS Survey Coordinator

Location: Ha Noi, Vietnam

 

SAFETYNET is an international Non-Governmental Organization that works in partnership with Ministries of Health, other non-governmental organizations, international agencies and other public health agencies to enhance opportunities for inter-regional exchange, sharing expertise, and promote interagency and interdisciplinary collaborations to build applied epidemiology capacity.

 

SAFETYNET seeks to recruit a local expert in Vietnam to support and coordinate a national hepatitis community sero-survey. The survey coordinator will be based at the General Department of Preventive Medicine (GDPM) and work with the Ministry of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Vietnam.

 

Importantly, fellows in Vietnam’s Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) will participate in the pilot phase of the survey and as trainers for field staff. Specific responsibilities of the coordinator include:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support GDPM in the development, and the day-to- day management and implementation of the national hepatitis survey.
  • Provide technical assistance to finalize the survey protocol, including the objectives, methodology, sampling strategy, and sample size, and full technical and ethical review in both English and Vietnamese.
  • Support implementation of the protocol in all geographic areas of Vietnam, including:

o Development of data collection and management plan, and tools.

o Standard operating procedures for all aspects of the project.

o Training materials and facilitation of training workshops.

o Overseeing the logistical preparation for sample and data collection in the field.

o Regular data quality review and troubleshooting.

o Coordination of all of the different groups involved in implementation.

o Overseeing FETP fellows’ engagement in the survey.

  • Communication regarding all aspects of the project with all project partners including GDPM, regional institutes, other MOH stakeholders, CDC-Vietnam and CDC-Atlanta
  • Drafting of the analytic plan, requesting input from partners, and incorporating edits.
  • Other technical issues as they arise.

 

Required skills and experience:

  • Master degree in a Public Health field (Epidemiology or Biostatistics) is required, PhD or Dr.PH degree
  • (Epidemiology, public health, or biostatistics) is preferred.
  • Experience working with large scale community surveys or other studies.
  • Experience working with the Vietnam Government Organizations.
  • Experience working with non-governmental organizations and donors.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environment.

Position Type: Limited term contract
