Job Purpose

To raise money for Blue Dragon’s work through engaging and maintaining excellent relationships with community groups, fundraisers and schools.

Job Context

Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation is a grassroots charity serving children in crisis throughout Vietnam. We believe that every child deserves the best care we can offer. Blue Dragon kids are street kids, children with disabilities, and children who have been trafficked. We rescue kids from danger and slavery, reunite them with their families when we can, and provide all the services needed for recovery and growth.

The Communications and Fundraising team ensures the success of Blue Dragon’s work through fundraising, communications and marketing, and by maintaining our excellent reputation with donors, sponsors and the wider community.

Key Objectives

  • Uphold Blue Dragon’s mission and values
  • Manage relations with and raise funds from community groups, fundraisers and schools
  • Participate in campaigns and appeals
  • Develop and lead initiatives to increase income from community groups, fundraisers and schools
  • Support public relations activities and events

Main responsibilities

The position responsibilities will be negotiated with the Manager and other members of the team, and are expected to include:

Donor engagement

  • Develop and execute strategies to engage and raise funds from community groups, fundraisers and schools
  • Maintain existing relationships with community groups, fundraisers and schools; leverage their networks for wider impact
  • Create excellent donor experience with community groups, fundraisers and schools, including hosting visits and excursions to Blue Dragon’s program areas, giving presentations, and supporting fundraising events
  • Develop and take initiative in tapping into new potential markets and groups to increase funds

Campaigns and appeals

  • Provide support for annual campaigns and appeals
  • Assist with the production of promotional materials

Team & Program Support

  • Contribute to and implement the Communications and Fundraising strategies
  • Liaise with program staff to organize visits and trips
  • Assist team members in hosting visitors in Hanoi, including Breakfast with the Stars
  • Assist with planning and implementation of other activities as required; for example, strategic planning, events, and information distribution
  • Participate in team meetings by identifying needs and problems and initiating solutions and improvements

Support

The Fundraiser supports the entire Communications and Fundraising team, and is closely supported by the Manager and the Data and Information Administrator.

Key selection criteria

Essential

  • Demonstrated commitment to Blue Dragon’s values
  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in Public Relations, Marketing, and/or Communications
  • Proficient English language skills, both written and oral; including the ability to give presentation and speeches
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, plan and complete work accurately and timely
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, taking a donor-centric approach
  • Experience in working in a multicultural environment and understanding cultural differences
  • Able to take the initiative and develop new ideas
  • Understanding of schools around the world
  • Willingness to travel

Desirable

  • Basic knowledge of design software: Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Experience in working in a non-profit environment
