Save the Children started our work in Vietnam in 1990, and implements programs in the key thematic areas: Education, Health and Nutrition, Child Protection, Child Rights and Governance, Child Poverty, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Emergency Response. At present, Vietnam Country Office has programs in 20 out of 63 provinces in Vietnam.

 

Save the Children in Vietnam continues to develop innovative programming that reflects the overall strategic goal of measurably improving the survival, health, protection and development of Vietnam’s poorest children by strengthening the capacity of women and children, caring adults, communities and partner organizations.

 

We are looking for one Vietnamese national for:

Tasks and Accountabilities

Program Planning and  Implementation

  • Support project team in field project implementation activities;
  • Assist the project team in the management of partnership agreements, including submission by the partner of financial reports and program reports in line with the agreed procedures of SCI;
  • Assist the partner to organize and facilitate activities in the partnership agreement;
  • Support for data collection and inputs to project monthly reporting/plan;
  • Ensure effective communication in order that the partner is well informed of project objectives and activities.
  • Assist in developing needs assessment tools, designing training modules, and conducting training as necessary;
  • Monitor project activities conducted by partners to ensure project activities implemented as per the project work-plan;
  • Meet with local partners, school teachers and students of target schools in a regular basis, record minutes, cooperate and collaborate on program design and implementation; and
  • Compile monthly activity reports from project staff and share it with Project Manager for monthly review.

Program administration and finance management

  • Review partners’ financial report and supporting document when requested by Project Manager;
  • Provide support to partners on SCI and donor requirements on expenditure;
  • Prepare advance requests and expense claim;
  • Maintain collegial working relationships with all stakeholders through collaboration and cooperation;
  • Ensure effective communication in order that all partners are well informed on program objectives and activities;
  • Represent the project in workshops and meetings as requested by Project Manager;
  • Coordinate all logistical issues for visits, project activities and other related tasks;
  • Actively collaborate with sectorial colleagues in SCI to promote shared directions, exchange best practices, and provide assistance;
  • Assist the project team to arrange project meetings and events, workshop logistics, in collaboration with project staff and admin/logistics staff – includes printing, accommodation, allowances, food, presenter issues, travel etc.
  • Maintain a photo library, with labels, of activities by location, activities, and date, using photos gathered by project staff;
  • Support the project team to schedule activities, meetings and workshops organized in project locations; and
  • Conduct additional tasks as required.

Requirements

Essential

  • University degree in social sciences or related field;
  • Have at least 2 years-experience working in the development areas;
  • Ability to learn quickly and respond to multiple demands;
  • Positive attitude to working with children in schools, parents, school and community leaders,
  • Solid English speaking and writing skills;

Desirable

  • Experience working in schools with school management and students
  • Experience working with children, especially ethnic minorities ones is a plus;
  • Flexibility and a sense of humour – ability to work, live and thrive in challenging circumstances;
  • Have a very high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness;
  • Be both self-confident and humble;
