TERMS OF REFERENCE
TITLE: Communications Assistant
LOCATION: Hanoi
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:To support the communication and campaign work of Save the Children in Vietnam, working closely with the Communications Coordinator to ensure that all internal and external communication is effectively implemented and in compliance with Save the Children communication guidelines. In particular, the post holder will support the development of communication materials, information sharing, and social media for the office.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :
Provide input and support to communications and campaign initiatives in the following areas:
- In close collaboration with Communications Coordinator, contribute to development and implementation of Save the Children in Vietnam’s communications strategy and thematic communications plans, with support from the program team
- Under supervision and guidance of PDQA Director, continuously update Save the Children information on relevant social media
- Support program teams in the development of communications materials (including program brochures, briefs, Country Office information, videos and other promotional products)
- Work jointly with the Communications Coordinator on organization and implementation of Campaign initiatives, communications and events
- Provide support to program teams to produce and promote case studies and success stories which highlight program achievements
- Coordinate and take initiative to disseminate Save the Children information and materials both internally and externally (including sharing publications, videos and other products within Vietnam)
- Provide informationto programme teams on Save the Children and donor branding requirements to ensure correct visibility on all publications and materials
- Maintain documentation, photographic and video libraries
- Provide technical support to production and distribution of Save the Children information packages to corporate sector and potential donors
- Produce quality media engagement materials, including media packs, press releases, and information sheets
- Coordinate Save the Children information displays at national advocacy events
- Monitor local media regularly on what is being reported on key issues related to children and Save the Children
- With the direction and support of the DRR/Emergency Response team and Communications Coordinator, support in media and communications in emergency situations, producing high quality communications materials
- Deploy in the event of an emergency if necessary to gather necessary content
- Provide translation for promotional and visibility materials as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS ANDEXPERIENCE
- University degree, preferably journalism or media/communications,
- 1-2 years work experience in communications or media fields
- Excellent English and Vietnamese communications skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to deliver key messages to the media
- Good eye for page layouts and design
- Good understanding of social media engagement
- Good understanding of the key components in brand management
- Good personal organisational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult environment according to travel requirements
